Hair Care
Raw and Virgin Hair Care:
1. Use a wide tooth comb or a detangling brush to detangle the hair. Start from the ends and work your way up to the roots. This will minimize shedding.
2. Always detangle before washing and during the conditioning process. The hair is weaker when wet and more likely to shed, so NEVER detangle during the shampoo process, as shampoo strips the hair of natural oils and doesn't provide any slip.
3. Deep condition the hair every month. If the hair has been bleached and/or colored, deep condition more often and let the hair sit in the conditioner for longer than 30 minutes. This will ensure you keep the hair well moisturized, so it will last longer.
4. Use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners unless the hair has a lot of products on it, and you need a clean base. Recommended Brands Sulfate-Free:
- OGX Shampoo and Conditioner
- Tresemme Shampoo and Conditioner
Recommended Brands Sulfate:
- Suave Moroccan Oil Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner
Hair mask recommended especially if the hair has been bleached.
- Silicon Mix (available at amazon)
5. Use a heat protectant for styling to minimize heat damage to the strands. Allow hair to air dry after washing as often as possible. If you must blow dry, apply a heat protectant first. Recommended Brands:
- Chi Products
- Tresemme Heat Defense Styling Spray
- L'oreal Paris Elnett Satin Heat Protect Styling Spray
6. If you want to apply oils to the hair, here are some Recommended Brands: -
- Argon Oil
- Castor Oil
- Coconut Oil
- BioSilk
Remember a little goes a long way!
Textured Hair-
Curly/Wavy- Use a curl activator, moose/curl cream or water + conditioner mixture to spray on the hair. Any kind will do. We recommend using your fingers to detangle curly hair or a wide tooth bamboo comb.
Straight- Use a straightening serum such as (Bio Silk) or any of your favorites if you want a silk pressed look.
